Hey Reader,

When I saw that Morro Bay had sea otters and humpback whales, I knew I needed to visit.

Instead of waiting for friends to be available, I went by myself so I truly could slow down and take my time (without worrying about other people’s expectations or needs).

My goal for the trip was to replace my screen time with reading, photography, and new experiences.

I brought a camera I’ve had for years but never use, and a book I’ve been meaning to get to.

And laid out a loose itinerary so my type-A brain could relax a bit.

But I knew going in that no matter how the days went, I’d just be happy to be there.

Morro Bay allowed me the space to settle in and not worry about rushing from one place to the next.

Everything felt easy.

Parking was free and easy to find.

Coffee shops and places built for sinking in with a book, laptop, or midday yap sesh were all around.

And, unlike LA, there’s space to breathe and settle in without people bustling all around you.

This trip gave my nervous system a much-needed reset, and I left feeling empowered with the newfound confidence solo travel gives you.
